Re:       Request for interview and consideration for sponsorship

Dear Sirs:

My name is Tara Campbell, and I am an eighth-grader at Madison County Middle School.  I am very pleased and honored to be able to call myself a Georgia State Finalist in the National American Miss Pageant system.  I have just completed my preliminary training at the “call-backs” this last weekend at the Athens Classic Center.

The State Competition will be held in the Hilton Atlanta on Courtland Street in Atlanta over Independence Day weekend.   In the state competition I will be judged on 4 aspects of poise and civic involvement:

30% will be based on one-on-one interviews with each of about a half-dozen judges.  The judge and I will discuss my résumé, my personal experience and character.  The next 30% will be my personal (self-) introduction.  I will have to accept a microphone on stage, introduce myself to the audience and tell them just a couple of interesting points about myself.  For both of these events I will be wearing an “interview-appropriate” business outfit.

The next 30% is for “formal-wear” modeling.

The final 10% will be judged on the basis of my participation in a charitable community outreach.

Of course, I would like to win, and go on to the National competition at Disneyland in California.  Realistically, there can only be one winner, however as a runner up I will still be in the running for various prizes, including cash, electronics and scholarships.  Additionally, I will receive additional excellent training and experience that will come in handy in the near future, when I have to gain admission to college!

I am writing to you to request an interview to discuss your sponsorship of me in this state-level production.  As a sponsor, you will have your name featured in the state program book.  If this is made as a business sponsorship, it will be tax-deductible.  At this time I understand that many businesses are re-evaluating their budgets.  I am trying to be responsible in finding funding for this and considerate of others at the same time.  For this reason I have approached a large number of possible sponsors, in the hopes of combining a number of small donations to reach my goal.

The complete cost for my participation is about $500.00.  The basic fee is $440.00, the opening group choreography number outfit is $40.00, and my Mother’s ticket is $15.00 as is the ticket for a male relative who will be my escort for the formal wear modeling portion.  I already have my business outfit and my formal dress.  My mother and I intend to drive back and forth in order to save on hotel expenses.

I have already raised (and paid) over $100.00 of this.  I need to send in the rest of the funds by 18 May, 2009.  While the staff of the pageant is very understanding about funds “in transit”, May 18 is the absolute deadline to get my sponsors’ names/business addresses into the pageant program.

If you would prefer to purchase a separate ad in the back of the program, I have included information about this on an additional page on my website.

I have attached a copy of the letter which was printed on the back of the Open Call #1 magazine.  It is from the National Director to potential sponsors.

The website for the pageant is https://www.namiss.com/. I have also set up a website where my friends and supporters can check on my preparations for this contest and stay in contact with me: http://www.namissga-tara.synthasite.com.

Please call me at 706-534-0805 or email me at innocenthorseangel@yahoo.com to let me know when I may meet with you to discuss this.  If you wish to speak with my Mother, Deanna E. Campbell, her email is seamama59@yahoo.com and her phone is (of course) the same as mine.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

          Thank you,

                                                                   Tara A. Campbell
